Private buses found operating with forged documents


Two private buses that had been plying between Colombo and Jaffna using bogus documents have been taken into the custody by the Gokarella Police along with the two drivers and two conductors.

Gokarella Police, on information received, had stopped the two buses near Ibbagamuwa and checked them and uncovered the racket
A sticker similar to the ones issued by the chairman of the National Transport Commission had also been found along with the forged documents.

The two drivers and two conductors have been arrested. It had transpired that the two conductors had charged semi-luxury bus fares instead of the normal fares, though the buses were ordinary ones.    

Traffic branch OIC, Inspector Wilwalaarachchi, is conducting further inquiries under the directions of Inspector Ranjith Vitharana, OIC Gokarella Police.
