The management assistant of the office of the Deputy Director, Health Services, Moneragala was taken into custody in connection with an alleged fraud of Rs. 4,037,278 and remanded till July 15 , by the Moneragala District Judge and Magistrate Shiranth Chinthaka Gunasekara.

The suspect A. W. Sriyalatha was from, Hulandawa, Moneragala.Sequel to audit queries on misappropriation of salaries of staff members of hospitals in the Moneragala District, the suspect had repaid a part of the alleged amount to the office of the Director of Health Services, Moneragala.

On subsequent complaints by the accountant of the office of Director of Health Services, Moneragala, the suspect was taken into custody and produced in court by Anura de Silva, SI, Crime investigation unit.
