Identifying corruption hotspots in the procurement process

Procurement and corruption are words that are often closely interlinked. Understanding how this relationship works is essential to successfully tackling corruption at every level.

TISL today (March 9) conducted a knowledge sharing session on corruption risks in procurement practices at local government level.
The event which was held in Bandarawela witnessed the participation of local government officials from multiple local government bodies in the Badulla district. TISL also created awareness on identified corruption hotspots in the procurement process.

The officials that participated in the event shared their opinions on the materials shared by TISL. They also highlighted the importance of having independent auditors at the local government level to curb corruption.

It should also be noted that the participants expressed some confusion regarding the implementation of national guidelines at the local government level.
