A Mount Lavinia Court yesterday issued summons on former MP Myown Musthapa over a complaint made by National Freedom Front (NFF) former MP Mohamed Muzammil.

Mr. Muzammil claimed he was offered cash as an inducement to extend his support to defeated presidential candidate retired General Sarath Fonseka.

Magistrate Harsha Sethunga ordered Mr. Musthapa to appear in court on March 19 after the CID filed a report on this matter.

The CID said Mr. Muzammil in his complaint said that on January 20 at a meeting at Sapphire hotel in Wellawatta he was promised Rs.30 million if he supported General Fonseka and that he was paid an advance of Rs.4.1 million which was handed over to Court.
